About the client
For over twenty years, Aptium Oncology has been designing, building and managing cancer centers at leading hospitals with a steadfast vision: to transform cancer care environments by bringing core clinical services to one central place. The intent of this single place is to help patients achieve longer, better lives -- and to improve cancer care one center at a time.

Aptium Oncology is a wholly-owned subsidiary of AstraZeneca, an international bioscience company. AstraZeneca has spent more than ten years strengthening its capabilities and commitment to oncology care with the aim of becoming the leading anti-cancer company in the world. Aptium Oncology has found in AstraZeneca a parent company who can provide business systems, management expertise and capital resources essential to making its vision a reality: bringing patient-focused, state-of-the-art cancer care to new regions of the country.

About the project
This project showcased Stoltenberg Consulting’s capabilities in a number of ways:

• The first OAS Gold install for Aptium (formerly Salick), the project targeted rollout of a new Invision installation in support of the scheduled opening of a new CCC. Timelines were adjusted (shortened) to meet the changing schedule.
• Aptium IT staff training and education was a mandate. Aptium wanted to ensure that their staff participating on the project would be skilled to support the implementation and continue to expand OAS Gold delivery.
• Aptium required careful evaluation of model pathways, with a desire to implement new functionality while maintaining their highly customized 3270 foundation.
• Though operations and IT are housed in Los Angeles, CA, the first “live” facility would be a continent away in Boca Raton, Florida -- test and proof of the capabilities of the Aptium IT and project staff to support remote and on-site building, testing and training.

Siemens Invision
Stoltenberg Consulting developed an enterprise-wide corporate implementation model for the implementation of OAS Gold (Re-Expressed) for all Aptium facilities across the country.

Stoltenberg Consulting provided project management, training of IT staff, technical builds, business improvement options, and go-live support.

One important project goal given to Stoltenberg Consulting was all Aptium IT personnel should learn the complete technical aspects of OAS/OASGold in order to develop future functionality in-house and become self-sufficient for support. Deliverables included:

• Re-Expression of Aptium custom registration pathways based on browser based Registration model.
• Re-Expression of HDX Pathways
• Customizations for print routing solution - VPS Anyque Implementation
• Implementation of Browser based Patient Accounting in Siemens OAS Gold
• Implementation and development of Aptium custom Resource Scheduling Systems
• NetAccess custom provider view with queries to selected OAS Gold pathways

Since this first implementation, Stoltenberg Consulting provided consultants on an ongoing basis to support implementations at two more facilities and is currently engaged in supporting the third with other facility rollout planned for the next 18 months.

Siemens Pharmacy
Stoltenberg Consulting provided clinical resource to assess current state of pharmacy application, develop recommendations for application/process changes and assisted in planning and implementation recommendations.

Siemens OpenLink
Stoltenberg Consulting provided an interface support analyst to free Aptium personnel for new project assignments. By outsourcing interface support to Stoltenberg Consulting, Aptium was able to reduce backlog of interface related support work while moving forward with corporate IT initiatives.

Decision Support System, TSI (Transition System Inc) Eclipsys
Stoltenberg Consulting provided business practice/technical assistance in expanding the use of TSI (Transition System Inc) and integration with Siemens Patient Accounting.
